In 2009, the volume of commissioning housing in Ukraine decreased in comparison with 2008 by 39%, to 6.4 million sq.m.
This is stated in the message of the State Statistics Committee.According to the decrease in housing construction has significantly affected reduction (2.5 times) the volume of commissioned individual developers of housing, whose share in total volume amounted to 35,7% (in 2008 - 55,6%).Volumes of commissioned housing in operation in urban areas amounted to 5,163 million square meters (80,7% of the total), whereas in the villages - 1,237 million square meters Compared with 2008 the volume of new housing in urban areas decreased by 32,4% (in rural areas - by 56,7%).
In January 2010volume of construction works in Ukraine declined over the same period last year to 24,1% to 1,5 billion UAH.
Work on new construction, reconstruction and technical re-equipment accounted for 82,7% of the total volume of work, the rest - for capital and maintenance (8,7% and 8,6% respectively).
